Biography.
Tom Quayle began playing the guitar at the age of 15, inspired by his father’s extraordinary fingerstyle technique. He quickly developed a passion for the instrument, influenced by renowned guitarists such as Steve Vai, John Petrucci, and Brett Garsed. Initially focused on rock techniques, Tom soon cultivated a profound interest in jazz and fusion.
During this transformative period, he adopted his signature fourths tuning and pursued formal education in jazz, graduating with a degree in Jazz Performance from Leeds College of Music in 2002. Since then, Tom has emerged as one of the leading fusion legato players globally, earning a strong reputation for both his teaching and performance. He has created numerous acclaimed instructional products for his own website and Lick Library, benefiting thousands of guitarists worldwide.
Tom has conducted masterclasses and clinics across the globe, gaining recognition that includes notable fans such as Dweezil Zappa, John Petrucci, Brett Garsed, Greg Howe, Andy Timmons, and Tim Miller.
Tom is also honored to have three signature Ibanez guitars, a signature Laney amplifier, and a signature Wampler overdrive pedal, all of which he has proudly played for many years.
